Golden crispy tofu coated in a sweet, savory, and sticky garlic sauce. A quick, protein-packed vegan dinner ready in under 45 minutes!

Ingredients

Scale

400 grams (14 oz) firm tofu, pressed and cubed
4 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup for vegan)
4 cloves garlic, minced
3 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari)
1/2 cup cornstarch
2 tablespoons sesame oil
2 green onions, chopped
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
1 cup vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Drain and press tofu for 15-20 mins. Cut into cubes.
  2. Mix honey, garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil in a bowl for the sauce.
  3. Coat tofu cubes evenly in cornstarch.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet. Fry tofu until golden and crispy, 3-4 mins per side. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Pour sauce into the warm skillet. Simmer for 1 minute.
  6. Add crispy tofu back to skillet and toss to coat in sauce. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • For crispier tofu, press it thoroughly. Use maple syrup for a vegan version. Don’t overcrowd the pan when frying. Serve immediately over rice.
