1 medium banana (ripe or overripe)
½ cup (50 g) rolled oats
1 cup (240 ml) milk or water
⅙ tsp salt
½ to 1 tbsp maple syrup
½ tbsp peanut butter
½ tsp vanilla extract
⅓ tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Stovetop: Mash the banana in a small saucepan. Add oats, liquid, and salt. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally for 5-7 minutes until creamy. Stir in syrup, peanut butter, vanilla, and cinnamon before serving.
  2. Microwave: Mash banana in a large microwave-safe bowl. Add oats, liquid, and salt. Microwave on high for 2 minutes. Stir well, then microwave in 30-second increments until desired thickness is reached. Stir in remaining ingredients.

Notes

  • Use an overripe banana for maximum sweetness.
  • Substitute almond or soy milk for the creamiest vegan result.
  • Add a splash of extra milk at the end if you prefer a thinner consistency.
